Peugeot 205 T16 Group B rally car Oil Tank

This week Concept Racing have been making a replica Peugeot 205 T16 Group B rally car Oil Tank complete with bracket.

On first inspection – the tank looks fairly straight forward, but the internals were much more complex.

In early 1984, Peugeot’s first Group B car was homologated. The 205 T16, was named because of it’s Turbo and 16 valves cylinder head. The car resembled the roadgoing Peugeot 205 but that was pretty much where the likeness stopped. The 4 cylinder engine had moved to where rear seats used to be and it was now all wheel drive.

227 Mph SKODA Octavia vRS Breaks Landspeed Record At Bonneville

Skoda Octavia vRS breaks official record to become the fastest 2.0-litre forced induction production car ever built hitting an incredible 227.070 mph on legendary Bonville salt flats – and yes, it was running a radiator built and designed at Concept Racing.

On Friday 19 August at 07:45am, a ŠKODA Octavia vRS officially became the world’s fastest 2.0-litre supercharged production car in the world when the 600 bhp ‘salt spec’ racer – built to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic vRS performance flagship badge – registered a Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) sanctioned speed of 227.070 mph on Utah’s legendary Bonneville Salt Flat.

The modified production Octavia vRS hatch, prepared by ŠKODA UK, smashed the previous record for a 2.0-litre forced induction production car at this year’s Bonneville Speed Week (13-19 August), registering an impressive official record speed of 227.080 mph.

The previous record for what is known as the G/PS category was 216 mph, set in August 1998.

Driven by journalist Richard Meaden, the Octavia had set impressive speeds throughout the week breaking the 200 mph barrier on six previous runs.

The Octavia’s record breaking runs consisted of two official runs of Bonneville’s famous five-mile course at 225.513 mph on Thursday 18 August, and a return run at 228.647 mph on Friday 19 August.

The Milton Keynes based ŠKODA UK team behind the racer had spent the week leading up to Speed Week putting the car through a rigorous dyno programme with the assistance of performance software and tuning outfit specialist REVO Technik.

Daytime temperatures on the Bonneville Salt Flats typically exceed 40C (104F). The Concept Racing built radiator stood up to the test, helping to keep engine temperatures down to achieve the record.

At Concept Racing we offer a specialist welding service for magnesium, titanium, aluminium and alloy steels / stainless. We were recently asked to carry out repairs to a 1950′s Grand Prix car sump, block and head. The block and the head are aluminium, the sump is magnesium. As you can see it was a pretty big hole!

Standard Dry Sump Tanks

Concept Racing Standard Dry Sump Tanks are a high quality aluminium construction with an internal baffle system to prevent oil surge, starvation and aid de-aeration. As standard the tanks are fitted with 5/8 BSP female inlet and outlet ports and a screw on filler cap with a 13mm breather outlet on the filler neck.

Vortex Dry Sump Tanks

The Vortex Dry sump tanks is specially designed to swirl the oil returning to the oil tank from the engine, combined with baffles inside the tank this helps to de-aerate the oil before it returns to the engine. This high quality alloy tank features 5/8 BSP female ports with a 19 mm push on breather pipe and a screw on filler cap.

Concept Racing aluminium fuel tanks are foam filled to help prevent fuel surge and suppress explosions. The fuel filler has an internal diameter of 38mm and has a knurled screw on cap with a seal. Filler neck, splash bowl and sight gauges are fitted as standard, VDO dip tube sender phalanges can be added at extra cost. Standard fuel outlets are 8mm outside diameter and the sight gauge outlets are 6mm outside diameter. Tanks can be made with other size outlets or dash fittings. Please note that we can make fuel tanks in any dimensions, please contact us for more information.We also make a standard range of rectangular fuel tanks available through the our shop.
